Intelligence Squared, the premier international forum for live debate, presents the motion: "China Picks Better Leaders than the West." The event will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday, 29 October 2012.
With the once-in-a-decade change of power in Beijing, a U.S. election on the horizon and political and economic systems in turmoil elsewhere, the debate urgently explores the issues around global leadership today.
Closer to home, the 15th year after the return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty has witnessed hundreds of thousands take to the streets in protest. Are mainland China and its systems to be embraced? Or feared?
